Feb. 9 Blizzard Bag Assignment

Hello Public Speakers,

1.) Select one of the many excellent speeches collected at www.americanrhetoric.com ... from any of their collections ("Top 100," "Movie Speeches," "Speech Bank," etc.)

2.) Read your speech, or watch and listen if those options are available

3.) Find the rhetoric!  Find examples of the following rhetorical techniques: allusion, analogy, anecdote, antithesis, irony, negative definition, parallel structure, quotation, and rhetorical question.  Your analysis can take the form of a chart, a short essay, or a series of Google Presentation slides--whichever you prefer.  Please be ready to talk about your speech and share your analysis with the class.

As usual, if you have any Q's, please email me and I will try to be helpful :)

Happy Snow Day,
Yours,
Mr. G.

Feb. 2, 2015 Blizzard Bag Assignment

Happy Blizzard Bag Day!

Let's keep this REALLY simple, shall we?  Since you all have selected Poetry Out Loud poems, your Blizzard Bag Assignment will be to learn your poems (with your letter grids).

Directions:
1.) Find your poem.
2.) Finish learning your poem (with your letter grid if you are using one).  If you get through it with the letter grid and want to go further, try it with just the first letters of each line!
3.) Watch the time.  If you spend 1 hr. on this and haven't finished, you may stop.  Note: it would be smart to spend 20 minutes on it three times.

Email me if you have any questions.

Good luck!
Mr. G
